Worlds Visited by Pegasus

Aurora Third planet (of eight) in the binary system 09 625a and b Lyra, two faint k-type stars separated by less than 20 million kilometers.  Aurora has a single moon whose mass is over fifty percent that of the planet. The strong iron cores in each body produce a dynamo effect as they orbit one another, producing powerful aurorae which the colonists, number some 2.3 billion, have learned to harness for energy. Aurora is 55% covered by oceans, and has four continental land masses. Planetary Government is achieved through coordination among the planet’s “Synerplexes,” combined commercial-industrial-governmental enterprises to which most citizens owe affiliation. Aurora was re-charted by the Pathfinder Ship Pegasus in A.S. 7362.

Bodicea - Bodicea is the fifth planet of ten in the system 10 655 Vulpecula. It has two large continental landmasses with long peninsulas that face each other like a pair of brackets and enclose a large sea in which many islands are located, including the Isle of Mab. Overall, the planet has a mild climate, although the northern extremes tend toward the sub-arctic. Its capital city is called Concordia. Bodicea has two moons, one barren, one covered with a thick methane atmosphere.

Coriolus – Third planet (of ten) in the system 10 065 Vulpecula. Population: 3.4 billion. Planetary Capital: Unknown. Coriolus is a terra-class planet with 77% of its surface area covered by water, two major continental land masses (and two minor), and one large moon in distant orbit. Coriolus was charted by the Pathfinder Ship Pegasus in the Sapphirean Year 7342

Crucible – Second planet of six in the system 15 215 Crux. Crucible was charted by the Pathfinders Ship Pegasus and Lexington Keeler in the Sapphirean Year 7371. The remains of a human colony were discovered. It was determined that the colony had been annihilated by aliens of unknown origin. The planet was distinguished by its turbulent atmosphere and the abundance of hydrocarbons in its air and water, necessitating breathing masks to be worn continuously on its surface.

Dominia – Fifth planet (of ten) in the system 12 800 Lyra. Population: 0. Planetary Capital: N/A. Domingo was found to be an Arcta-Beta class planet whose entire surface is a frozen wasteland. Domingo was charted by the Pathfinder Ship Pegasus in the Sapphirean Year 7370. Note: Pegasus never confirmed that 12 800 Lyra V was in fact Domingo colony.

Fiddler’s Green – Fifth planet (of five) in the triinary system 4 886 Lyra, a system consisting of a red giant and two white dwarf stars. One large moon. Population: Unknown. Planetary Capital: Unknown. The surface of Fiddler’s Green is varies only between swampland and gently rolling hills. The atmosphere is extraordinarily thick and the planet has a very strong, active electromagnetic field. Fiddler’s Green was recharted by the Pathfinder Ship Pegasus in the Sapphirean Year 7357.

Gethsemane – Fifth planet (of twelve) in the system 271 Gemini.

Hearth – Fourth planet (of six) in an uncharter binary system of a red giant and red dwarf star system. Hearth is a terra-upsilon class planet with a xenon-oxygen-carbon dioxide atmosphere, overall hotter and drier than Sapphire, but not uniformly arid.  Planetary population: <2,000. Population confined to a single large domed settlement. Hearth was recharted by the Pathfinder Ship Pegasus in the Sapphirean Year 7329

Independence – Third planet (of 9) in the 11 753 Vulpeculus system. Population, 5.7 billion. A terra-class planet, nitrogen-oxygen atmosphere. Saltwater oceans cover 63% of the planet’s surface, three continental landmasses. Planetary capital: Presidio Capitat. Independence possesses a moderate climate and a diverse planetary landscape with multiple environments including grasslands, mountains, deserts, and arctic regions. At the time it was re-charted, Independence had largely recovered from the Great Silence and was beginning its own program of space exploration.Independence is governed by a tri-cameral legislature, in which two of the three Towers (one from each continent) must concur before planetary policy is set

These Towers (Each named for the continent it serves, The Tower of Veritas, the Tower of Justinian, and the Tower of Buschland) are housed in literal towers, three identical one-hundred story towers arranged in an equilateral triangle on the island-capital of Presidio Capitat with a triangle-shaped Assembly Hall between the three. Independence was re-charted by the Pathfinder Ship Pegasus, in the Sapphirean year 7353.

Medea – Second planet (of six) in the system 12 822 Equuleus. Planetary Capital: Unknown. Population: 0. Medea was re-charted by the Pathfinder Ship Pegasus in the Sapphirean Year 7315.

Meridian  – Fourth planet (of eight) in the system 12 822 Pegasus, a system of a eight planets and a single G-class yellow dwarf star. Meridian is a Terra-alpha class planet, 72% covered by oceans with a single large continental landmass. Meridian was charted by the Pathfinder Ship Pegasus in the Sapphirean Year AS 7300.

Winter– Fourth planet (of seven) in the system 10 004 Horologium orbiting a single K-class star. An Arcta-Alpha class planet, 66% covered by water. Planetary Population: 144,000. Planetary Capital: Ultima Thule. Most of the surface is frozen because of the cold climate. However, gravitation from the third planet in the system, Cardinal, causes dynamic tectonic stress, releasing heat from deep inside the planet, allowing like to flourish in warm parts of the ocean and in sheltered valleys and canyons in regions across the planet. Winter was charted by the Pathfinder Ship Pegasus in the Sapphirean Year 7362

Yornwode – Planet located in the Orion Quadrant in a binary system consisting of an F-class yellow dwarf and a white dwarf. The planet has no moon. It has an intense electromagnetic field that blocks all communication from reaching or leaving the planet. It has one large polar and mass and a smaller equatorial landmass that is almost entire desert. Its oceans are much saltier than the norm. Rainfall is negligible on the planet's land-masses.

Other Worlds

Arkangel Pegasi Second planet (of nine) in the system 12 942 Aquila, a system of a single G-class yellow dwarf star and nine planets. Arkangel is a terra-alpha class world, 66% covered by water, with extensive jungle regions. It has three moons. Human population: 1,100. Planetary capital: Stonehenge. Arkangel was charted by the Pathfinder Ship Lexington Keeler in the Sapphirean Year AS 7369.

BountifulFive terra-class planets in the trinary system 10 777, 10 776, and 10 772 Pegasi, comprising Moab (10 777 Pegasi IV), Bountiful (10 777 Pegasi V), Canaan (10 777 Pegasi VI) and two moons of 10 777 Pegasi VII (called Elijah), Bethany and   Daniel. Combined population, 15 Billion. System Capital: New Jericho (on Bountiful). The Bountiful System is one of the most successful and prosperous of the surviving colonies. Its people are generous, open-minded, and free.

Bright Angel – Seventh planet (of twenty-one) in the binary system 11 462 and 11 645 Triangula. Population 3.6 billion. Planetary Capital: Archangel. Bright Angel is a Terra Alpha class planet with six moons orbiting an A-class star, with a red dwarf star occupying the system’s outer orbit. The brightness of her primary produces a very bright sky, and gives much of the planet a washed-out appearance. Initial landing parties were obliged to wear eye-gear to compensate. 76% of the surface area is ocean, but its six landmasses enjoy mild-to-fair climates. Its six continents are governed in a loose confederation by a parliamentary-style legislative body, with the power to govern on some matters and advise on others (like Sapphire’s ‘Thing’). Bright Angel was re-charted by the Pathfinder ShipLexington Keeler   in the Sapphirean Year A.S. 7317.

Dabro Emet – Third planet (of nine) in the system 11 612 Andromeda. Population 380,000. A terra-epsilon class desert planet with an oxygen-nitrogen atmosphere. Most human habitation is centered around a large, deep (mostly underground) lake that stretches 4,000 kilometers north to south. The inhabitants of Dabro Emet are devout followers of an ancient Orthodox faith, led by a Council of Judges applying Talmudic law. Dabro Emet preserved many records from Ancient Earth (although not the cause of the Great Silence). From these records, it was possible to calculate the length of a Terran Year, which became the basis for the “Common Year” used by the New Commonwealth. Dabro Emet was re-charted by the Pathfinder Ship Republic in the Common Year 7341.

Denali – Fifth planet (of sixteen) in the system 14 445 Pegasus, a binary system of a single F-class yellow dwarf star, with a white dwarf occupying the outermost orbit. Denali is a terra-alpha class world, 54% covered by water, somewhat chiller than Sapphire. Denali has five moons. Human population: 4.5 billion. Planetary capital: Nord. Denali was charted by the Pathfinder Ship Sapphire in the Sapphirean Year AS 7305.

Electra – Fourth planet (of twelve) in the system 12 902 Pegasus, a system of a single K-class yellow dwarf star. Rafale is a terra-alpha class world, with a warm, semi-arid climate in most areas. Human population: Unknown. Planetary capital: Unknown. Electra was charted by the Pathfinder Ship Lexington Keeler in the Sapphirean Year AS 7319

Emeishan – Second planet (of fourteen) in the system 32 924 Pegasus, a system of a single G-class yellow dwarf star. Rafale is a terra-alpha class world with five continental land masses. Three continents were bombarded with asteroids by the early colonists to clear jungle and shift the planet's climate. The remaining two continents were left largely intact, with thick jungle vegetation and swamps, inhabited by dinosaur-like sauropods. Human population: 634 Million.  Emeishan was charted by the Pathfinder Ship Lexington Keeler in the Sapphirean Year AS 7308

Indigo – Third planet (of eleven) in the system 1 778 Delphinus, a system of a single G-class yellow dwarf star and eleven planets. Indigo is a terra-iota class ocean world, 97% covered by water. It has four moons. No human population. No planetary capital. Indigo was charted by the Pathfinder Ship Sapphire in the Sapphirean Year AS 7335.

Loki - Fifth planet (of 11) in the 10 527 Pegasus system, a binary system with 10 606 Pegasi. Population – N/A. A beta-class planet, carbon-dioxide, nitrogen and oxygen atmosphere. Frozen ice covers 42% of the planet’s surface, primarily in the arctic regions. Loki has no surviving indigenous life forms, but there is evidence that some primitive bacteria-like forms arose in its distant past. Loki is a candidate for terra-forming, but its distance from its primary sun makes it unlikely to support more than a sub-arctic climate. Nevertheless, the Sapphirean Government offered Loki as the site for the capital of the New Commonwealth, formed by Republic, Bountiful, Independence, Rainier III, Bright Angel, Talal, and Indigo with Sapphire, Winter, and Dabro Emet as Associate worlds (allied to, but not a part of, the New Commonwealth). After much debate, the offer was accepted. New Commonwealth City, a large domed city with a contained environment, built as a meeting place and exchange, was constructed beginning in the common Year 7392)

Rainier III – Third planet (of thirteen) in the system 14 651 Pegasus, a system of a thirteen planets and a single F-class yellow dwarf star. Population 3.2 billion. Planetary Capital: Rainier City. Democratically elected parliamentary government. Rainier is a Terra-alpha class planet, 64% covered by oceans with three large continental landmasses, generally much more mountainous and cooler than the environment of Sapphire. Rainier III was charted by the Pathfinder Ship Republic in the Sapphirean Year AS 7300.

Republic (II)  – Second planet (of twelve) in the binary system 13 445a and 13 445b Cetus (two red dwarf stars), recharted  by the Pathfinder Ship Commonwealth in the Sapphirean year A.S. 7382. The other Republic is a massive, terra-gamma class planet whose gravity is 2.2 times the mean for human colonies. Population 2.7 Billion. Capital City: Ione. 70% of the surface is ocean-covered, but in the high gravity, the seas are languid and still. The planet’s sky is a dark reddish gray color, and its climate is warm.

Sagara – Sixth planet (of twelve) in the system 17 010 Cetus, a binary system of one G-class yellow dwarf star, one white dwarf star occupying the outer orbit, and twelve planets. Sagara is a terra-iota class ocean world, 91% covered by water. One large moon. Human population: 171 million. Planetary capital: Rani. Government by popular consensus.  Indigo was charted by the Pathfinder Ship Commonwealth in the Sapphirean Year AS 7395.

Talal – Third planet (of seven) in the system 11 329 Andromeda, a system of a single F-class yellow dwarf star and seven planets. Talal is a terra-alpha class world, 64% covered by water. It has five moons. Human population: 3.1 billion. Planetary capital: Adara. Government is carried out by bureaucratic functionaries who operate in a monastic environment, and must take vows of poverty and public service. The people, and an elected council, have the power to remove functionaries who are corrupt or who act contrary to the people’s interest. Talal was charted by the Pathfinder Ship Republic in the Sapphirean Year AS 7365.

Wolf’s Head – Fifth planet (of Nineteen) in the system 15 627 Pegasus, orbiting a single G-class star. Population 892 millions. A terra-class planet, nitrogen-oxygen atmosphere. One natural satellite (The Pup) Planetary Capital: None. Two major and nine minor continental land masses cover 45% of the planet’s surface, the remainder covered by low-salinity oceans. Most areas enjoy a cool-to-temperate climate. Wolf’s Head is heavily forested, with 93% of the land area tree-covered. The most remarkable feature of the planet is very large number of predatory species, which exact a high mortality on the human population. Human settlements are built behind high, strong walls to keep predators out. Planetary government is limited by the hazards to travel presented by predatorsm but settlements negotiate common agreements on laws, trade, and common interests. Wolf’s Head was re-charted by the Pathfinder Ship Lexington Keeler in the Sapphirean Year A.S. 7327.
