Book 10: Eventide
Eventide is a terra (Alpha) -class planet in orbit
around a pair of orange dwarf suns in the system 9C 4112 Scorpius. The
planet's topography is unusually in that millions of years ago, it was
battered by a prolonged bombardment of comets and asteroid, leaving
enormous craters over 4/5ths of its surface that have since filled in and
become seas. The remaining twenty percent of the planet that is land
consists of islands and archipelagos that form the rims of the submerged
craters.
Furthermore, though the planet is
warmed by the suns, it receives much less light than is usual, only about
1/5th of the sunlight of Sapphire or
Republic, which makes daylight a kind of rich twilight. Deep geothermal
springs also warm the planet, and provide abundant energy for its
inhabitants.
>
Pegasus,, severely damaged after the battle at Gethsemane,
arrives at Eventide, they finally meet the alien race known as The Kariad.
The Kariad have been moving through the galaxy attempting to enlighten
human colonies and reform each colony€™s culture to their own standards,
often with disastrous results. Commander Keeler challenges The Kariad to
leave the world and let the humans work things out for themselves. But The
Kariad refuse to leave unless Keeler can persuade the colonists to reject
their assistance.
Book 11: Parallax
In which the crew of Pegasus catches up with some old friends, and
finds out where they've been and what they've been up to. At the StarLock
Charlemagne, Pegasus rendezvouses with
another Pathfinder Ship, and learns of other adventures undertaken on the
great journey.
Book 12: Terrastar
In which Pegasus joins a fleet of ships into a final climatic battle for
humanity's future, a battle whose outcome can only be determined through
acts of major sacrifice. One of those, you know, 'There can be only one'
deals, like in 'Highlander.'
